Facilities Optimization was the success in recognizing and adapting to a changing need for service delivery as illustrated by the incorporation of evolving technology into a Vascular OR assembled from outdated and under utilized areas within the existing OR suite.

Way finding links the user to their surroundings whether by visual connection to the exterior or the front door and reduces anxieties, promotes interaction, and contributes to a less stressful guest experience.

The guest experience must be more than pleasant surroundings. It must stimulate the senses from the aroma of fresh coffee and the entertaining antics of the barista to a relaxing overstuffed chair beckoning from an area of solitude to the visual play of light within the space. These diverse elements each contribute to the environment of healing.

The guest experience was enhanced through Facility Optimization in the development of the Cardiac Rehab by providing easy access located near guest parking and with a designated entrance into a space that displays a functional adaptability while emphasizing a connection between the interior and exterior to promote use and healing.

A healing environment within a healthcare facility is more than a connection with the physical surroundings. It is a connection with the spiritual side of healing as demonstrated in the co-creative success of the Chapel which defines a place of solitude, contemplation, and renewal in it simple use of color and light.
